Friday Night Highlights from Chicago

Welcome to the Windy City! The third event of our MINI Takes the States 2008 series kicked off today. More than 300 MINI owners and friends (our youngest participants was just about 6 months old) gathered at the University of Illinois/Chicago Picnic Grounds for a Meet and Greet barbecue and movie night.

After some mingling around one of the first delivered John Cooper Works, everyone filled up on burgers and corn on the cob. Some played beach volleyball, bean bag toss, bocce ball and horseshoes. Once the sun had set, people laid out their blankets and chairs on the grass for the showing of “21”. We saw a few familiar faces from earlier events and it was great to see from how far our owners travelled to join us.

A big thumbs up for tonight’s sponsors, the New Yorker and Czarnowski. The festivities will continue tomorrow morning with our breakfast at Lincoln Park Zoo and the Rise & Shine Rally to Road America, so stay tuned for more coverage.

Hope everyone will have a restful night (some true Motorers were spotted sleeping right next to their MINI in the parking garage) and see you tomorrow…
