MINI Takes The States Los Angeles started off with a bang as MINI Owners and friends gathered for some food, drinks, and a lot of fun at Jillian's Bar & Bowling Alley at City Walk in Universal City, CA. Gina Koutros and Jim McDowell from MINI USA officially welcomed everyone and kicked-off the last stop of the 2008 MTTS tour with a brief introduction and agenda for the weekend.
Downstairs, MINI Owners traded stories and photos of their journeys to Los Angeles while noshing on chips and salsa, hot wings, and pizza. They also kept busy and entertained by the abundance of games to play, including billards, Dance Dance Revolution, Skee Ball, and of course, a car-racing game (no surprise, the favorite among the group.) Everyone also had a chance to admire and take a peek under the hood of the brand new John Cooper Works MINI that was parked right in the middle of the bar.
Upstairs, the party continued as some tested their bowling skills in one of the five disco-styled bowling lanes. Others lounged at adjacent bar, chatting with old friends and meeting new members of the MINI community. One MINI Owner described his bittersweet journey--being able to come out to LA to attend the last MINI Takes The States--but sadly having to leave his MINI behind...in Poland!
Thanks to Czarnowski and Fade In magazine who helped sponsor tonight's event. As "the last hurrah" for MTTS 2008 is underway, be prepared for some exciting MINI-cross action, fun festival games, activities and shows tomorrow and Sunday at the Rose Bowl. Motor On.
